Things, Week 33, 2025
I was browsing my local bookstore when I saw the Harper Perennial, Olive Edition of Lovecraft Country. I usually read on my Kobo, but I couldn’t pass up an honest-to-goodness paperback. And within the first dozen pages is this bit on the form factor of paperback books: paperbacks were meant to be abused.
Other non e-books I’ve read this year:
The Afterlife Project - time travel, last man on Earth, adventures in the end times.
Municipal Gothic - stories where ghosts haunt more mundane architecture.
Both are great, highly recommend if they sound like your thing.
“I regret that I have never kept a journal, especially in my 20s. I have strong memories of that time but few artifacts to anchor them.” From Nine regrets. Same.
“Ramblings channels let everyone share what’s on their mind without cluttering group channels. Think of them as personal journals or microblogs inside your team’s chat app, a lightweight way to add ambient social cohesion.” From If you're remote, ramble. Great idea!
Entire Landscapes is mostly collected photos of odd or rare architecture, but also other things.
I Tried Every Todo App and Ended Up With a .txt File. Or a pocket notebook in my case.
7k steps is the new 10k steps. “Taking 7,000 steps per day was associated with nearly a 50% lower risk of dying compared to the bare minimum of 2,000 steps.“
Indie Web & Small Web Website Directories List. I’m a sucker for a list of lists.
New (to me) simple blogging tools: Notepin, LMNO, and Thoughts.
Things I covet: R300 CD Player and The Cambro Tray, but can’t justify buying.
That’s it for now. I hope it’s nice enough wherever you are to get outside and look up.
