↑ The art of Felipe Bedoya.
Gather is a “local-first app for archiving, cultivating, and curating your data collections” created by Spencer Chang. Looks pretty neat.
mood.site is a “no-frills, dead-simple website to create and share collections of images. It is not an image host. the links to images expire after a short period of time.” Kind of temporary Pintrest. Here is what was currently living in my downloads folder.
These tools remind me of Chris Butler’s own clipping file and personal web. He says:
I save things that I worry I won’t be able to find or access some day
This leads me to A process to process by Chris Glass:
In October 2023, my sister Robin passed away unexpectedly. In those first days of grief I found myself overwhelmed. I spent hours trying to find photos of her. I needed a process to process. One morning, I decided to focus on today’s date and sift through decades of photos from the day. It was a lovely stroll down memory lane, unearthing gems that had gathered digital dust.
What should we do with this data, both personal and clippings? It’s not just a matter of storage, but curation. I currently trust external tools for this job, Google Photos and Are.na. One I don’t trust at all; the other I do, but who knows how long it will be around. Maybe I should take Glass and Butler’s lead. Also, this can be a social activity even though it’s not online. To be continued …
What My Dog Taught Me About Mortality. (🎁) I know this link was shared heavily, but if you have pets you should give it a go.
Cassette Culture (see also number one in this previous issue of things).
Minor League Baseball team names. I would get some Richmond Flying Squirrels or Albuquerque Isotopes gear.
I’m going to say I’m going salty liquorice instead of turning gray.
I hope you have a slowmaxxing weekend.
