Thicket & Bramble Newsletter, Vol. 1: Real Houses
Hello! This is Gabriel. This is Thicket & Bramble. I have a lot to tell you about what Thicket & Bramble is, but I’d like to show you first. Let’s start with:
This poem by Marge Piercy, which is where the phrase comes from, and
The first episode of the Thicket & Bramble podcast, which is available now on Apple and Spotify.
From today until Sunday, June 29, eight episodes of the podcast will be released. One new episode per day for the next eight days.
Five standalones and then a three-parter. A tasting menu of the kinds of stories I’ll be telling. If you don’t like something, all you gotta do is wait a day. The next day’s episode will be very different.
If you listen to podcasts somewhere other than Apple or Spotify, let me know and I’ll get it there.
These were all written and performed by me. They were produced by my old friend and technical/moral genius Alec MacPherson. A few episodes, including this first one, have original music by the brilliant Adam Boffa. You can hear more of his music at ambinate.com.
For those of you who were at the show last night: Thank you. Jesus. What a night. You brought lovely, kind, open-hearted, mega chill vibes. Every single one of you. To a one. I could not have asked for a more magical evening.
For those of you who were not at the show last night: There was a show last night! I performed my latest solo play Moss in my dear friend Etai’s backyard. It was a good good time.
Etai is a rad dude and a generous, loving soul. A real mensch. You should follow him on the internet and look at the beautiful glass he makes.
More is coming about Moss, and this summer’s Living Room Tour of Moss, soon. For now, I hope you check out the podcast this week and tell me what you think and feel. I’m open to all feedback, just hit reply.
It’s touch and go, but I think we’re going to make it. I love you. Thank you for being here.
