We’re looking ahead. How about you?
Let’s build on this momentum!
Dear Reader,
If you’re like us, your thoughts have started to drift to next week’s calendar flip. We’re not in the resolution-making business per se, but we do have several reporting projects we’re looking forward to making a reality in 2025. Here’s a sneak peek:
We’re continuing to investigate how the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority fails to maintain its human and climate infrastructure, leading to one of the nation’s worst rider recovery rates.
We’re looking into the Wild “East” of Traditional Chinese Medicine: how Asian Americans access it, where the current regulatory landscape stands, and how the practice might go mainstream with health and insurance providers
We had to postpone our coverage of a threatened rare plant in Western North Carolina due to Hurricane Helene's devastation, but I promise you will read more about it!
Ditto with our feature on the crude oil exporting industry in South Texas; we are recalibrating the story with a co-publishing partner!
Since we’re a reader-supported organization, you have the power to help bring these things to fruition. As a nonprofit, we can pursue public interest and high-quality journalism without being beholden to shareholders or corporate interests because we answer to you: our community.
This is a great thing, but it also means that we need your support.
There are only a few days left in our year-end campaign. We are so close to exhausting our match caps totaling $23,000. Will you get us across the finish line and have your donation doubled when you contribute by midnight on December 31?
Democracy needs news. News needs you. What do you say?
We’re grateful for your investment in nonprofit news and look forward to delivering another year of journalism on the issues that matter.
With gratitude,
Alex Ip
