Notable Sandwich Notes
It’s been a busy week here at S&S Industries, for a variety of reasons both personal and professional. So when we realized that the regularly scheduled sandwich for today translates as “turkey” there was really no choice but to save it until next week as a post-Thanksgiving treat.
In the meantime, to satisfy your craving for fresh Talia content, check out her brand-new story for Rolling Stone: “Christian Zionists love Jews like a hungry man loves a chicken wing — it’s an interest borne out of need and whose end is total consumption.”
And, speaking of consumption, if it’s sandwich content you crave, let me direct you to this piece on the McRib by Adam Winer, that I edited over a decade ago (and which now resides only in the wayback machine). As I’m sure all of you know, November is McRib season, and judging from my google news alerts and twitter feed, the return of the McDonald’s curiosity is the week’s big sandwich news.
In the years since Adam’s authoritative account, the cult of the McRib has only grown. And like any good cult, this sandwich has inspired it’s own conspiracy theories:
And if you prefer tuna fish to ersatz rib meat, I’ll send you off with one more bit of sandwich content, this one from Yoko Ono.
