Talking to Your Caterpillar

"Wherever we go, we are friends" -Sloth and Manatee

Not seeing the images in your email? You can Read online here

Conversations - loud ones, quiet ones, one-sided ones, the ones inside our heads, the ones we think we're going to have...

Cartoon of a baby thinking, "Man, if I want to get into show business as a talking baby, I'd better hurry up and learn some words."

Sloth and (Moon)atee

Bringing along five microscopic friends in a backpack has certainly increased the amount of commentary going on

Sloth and Manatee cartoon in which there is a big discussion of how to talk to the penguin, while the penguin looks on, confused

More ways to have conversations... or not

I may have mentioned there's a Brainwaves book out

Cartoon of a butterfly reading a book titled "Talking to your caterpillar"

Cartoon of a person saying, "What were you saying? My inner voice drowned you out for a second."

This is a print called "The Table," which we have in our house - it's by Philip C. Curtis.

I wonder what they're talking about?

Here's a closer look at the detail (sorry it's hard to photograph, it's got glass on it)

I'm like this creepy ghost listening in on their conversation

What are they waiting for? Who is talking? Is it the guy facing away? Is somebody about to drop a bombshell? What does it make you think about?

And Now for Something Sort of Different but not really

The end of Inktober! As I mentioned, it became all Potatosaurus all the time at the end - and so on the last day the prompt was "fire," and so the Potatosauri gathered with some frogs and an Ipp - and the Moon, for a story

Story time!

When I Ship Books...

An apology for the amount of tape I use. I'm a big believer in re-using materials, not using huge amounts of packaging, and "crumple zones" so the edges of the books don't get dinged up. And, one can do a lot of problem-solving with tape. So, orders are shipped with love and an impressive amount of tape.

Taaaaaaape.

PS The Brainwaves books are going quicker than expected so I've ordered more! So there might be some days of wait time in there but it's cool.

One more thing about Conversations

It can feel like we're in conversation 24 hours a day with these devices sending us stuff all the time. Like, somebody's watching, commenting, having An Opinion on us. Maybe that makes us feel connected, but it's also just so so noisy. The fact is, we're in conversation with the world just by being in it. So here's a lil reminder in the spirit of the 80s TV show Miami Vice (look up the theme song! It's rad.)

Image of a chameleon dressed as Don Johnson in Miami Vice with the text "put the phone down"

That's enough nonsense for now.

May you have a good conversation, may you also have some good silence, won't you be my neighbor?

-Betsy
