How Far to the Cow?
"Wherever we go, we are friends" -Sloth and Manatee

This week it’s about horizons, and cows. Where I live, there are hills in the distance and on those hills are mysterious cows. Which is how these things got combined.
What is in the distance where you are right now? Is it mountains? The ocean? A fence? The bushes outside the window? Are there any cows about?
Here is a color study of tree-covered mountains seen from a highway in southern Oregon, USA. Don't worry, I didn't draw this from the highway, I waited to get home. Maybe there are cows lurking in there.
Stuff looks more blue to us when it is farther away, because our eyes have more blue sensors and blue has a wavelength that persists when scattered by a lot of air molecules in the atmosphere, and when things are far away, there's more atmosphere between you and the thing.
Leonardo da Vinci knew this and used it in the backdrop for the Mona Lisa.
Sloth and (Moon)atee
Sloth and Manatee and their friends the Tardigrades in Sloth's lil backpack are following a long line of Moon rocks toward a faraway place too, which reminds Sloth of something...
Manatee being a Sea-Cow, it seems like Moon-Cows would be a possibility.
Speaking of which, here is the original comic in which Sloth and Manatee spot the Distant Cow, there on the hilltop - can you spot the cow?
Speaking of Cows and Horizons...?
And Now for Something Completely Different
Recently I shared a blog post called The Tao of Sloth and Manatee. It is about the friends balance one another, and how this can help us in our own thinking, particularly about forests and trees (it makes sense, I promise.) Take a look and see what you think.
Inktober continues...
Day 16 was "Angel" so I took the opportunity to draw Angel Flight pants and a disco shirt, this stuff was FLY in the 70s, y'all
Day 18 was "Saddle," so I drew this, the world's most chill thrill ride:
You can follow along with the Inktober nonsense as I go, at my Instagram.
Okay that's enough nonsense for now.
May you spot something interesting (maybe a cow) off in the distance, may you wear some fly fashions, won't you be my neighbor?
