Dimensional!
"Wherever we go, we are friends" -Sloth and Manatee
How many dimensions are you?
Who knows?

Checking in on our microscopic friends living in their tiny bonsai tree to see what they think about all this inter-dimensional stuff...
Comics and illustrations handle time in a unique and amazing way. Films have a frame rate. Music has a tempo. But a single comic page or image can be anything from a split second to the whole history of the universe based only on how you use the space.
This bunny here seems to exist in somewhat of a slower moment:
In this comic a long period of time is covered through the repetition of the rock sitting there contemplating while it grows dark:
Here Sloth and Manatee discuss the issue:
It's fun to ask: How much time is elapsing in this image or page? Think about that next time you're looking at a comic strip or a painting or a picture book. Some paintings are longer than others.
Speaking of time, I recently watched the film "Stalker" directed by Andrei Tarkovsky. This film, which is in Russian with subtitles and over 2 hours long (but somehow doesn't drag at least for me), requires your whole entire attention span but wow does it deepen your ability to see and hear and consider. I heard there's no shot less than a minute long in the whole thing. The tracking shots and uses of sound are otherworldly.
In it two men and a guide go into a region called The Zone in search of a place called The Room where supposedly your deepest most secret desire will be granted. This is not what you would think in any way. Nope.
It's a film that invites you to really, really look, and listen, and think. Nothing happens, and everything happens. Just watch the opening shot. It's ridiculous. And the closing monologue is ridiculous too. Just amazing.
Oh and it came out in 1979 when Star Wars was happening. This is the absolute galactic opposite of Star Wars.
There's a PDF version of Best of Brainwaves Volume One. Great for thumbing through on your phone like a lil humor machine. Beats the infinite scroll in my opinion. You can even load that pup into your Kindle or Kobo app or what have you.
And the sign-able paper books are back in stock too! You can get em at the Amazon and Bookshop machines as well of course.
Okay! That's enough nonsense for now.
May you enjoy both 2D and 3D experiences, may you find a dimension that's right for you, won't you be my neighbor? -Betsy
