Never give up on reading the whole internet
The pen ran dry for a bit there. A cadence is being rediscovered, if ever so slowly. National news aside 🤦♂️, this is about the trajectory of things.
I’m Adam Keys and you’re here because, at some point in your past, you subscribed to my newsletter of interesting things you can enjoy and/or read. If that seems unlikely and unfamiliar, well that’s our sick sad world, but you can unsubscribe (link in the footer) if you want to. But since you’re still reading, thanks! Let’s get on to the things of interest.
The Possibility of Software reflects on the central theory, in retrospect, of the past few decades of software. Then I make a guess as to where the decade to come might go.
I rented a Porsche for a day. I was not immediately as taken by the machine as I thought I would be. Then, I looked over what I wrote about it, wherein I connected the notion of a strong center to product design. I think it’s safe to say I was very much taken by the romance of the car.
I’m still loving What We Do In the Shadows. Especially the theme song. And now, Dickinson. These are the delightful comedies that I can revel in.
As a counterpoint, I recently discovered that sad-coms are a thing. Right now, they are particularly poorly timed for my enjoyment. Shrill season 1 was good, but I don’t think I’m in it for another season. Run started off strong, but leaned too hard on people making bad decisions for my taste.
Pro-tip: writing on a computer, printing the draft, and then editing it on paper is still an excellent way of thinking and working. If you have a reliable printer, I highly recommend it. If you don’t, I’m not sure it’s worth bringing such a haunted, bedeviled device as a printer into your household.
Stay safe out there. Keeping taking care of yourself. And, as ever, never give up on reading the whole internet.
