[CDS] Day 5-7 – Williams, Arizona

A rest stop off I-70, nestled between the mountains, adjacent to a river. I mean c'mon, you can't beat that.
Colorado’s parks and rest stops are top-tier stuff. A rest stop off I-70, nestled between the mountains, adjacent to a river. I mean c'mon, you can't beat that.

Your author and his wife/driver/journey mastermind, photoed with the Sinclair gas station logo dinosaur.
Aside from this dinosaur photo op, the rest of this gas station had a very Terminator 2 vibe to it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We took a photo with a rest stop/gas station Sinclair dinosaur. Made me think of the Dinosaurs TV series. The nostalgia is strong.

Apple CarPlay displaying an arrival time that doesn't add up
You don’t want to find out your 12 hour day turned into 13 hours because of timezones and details of daylight savings time observation.

Time in Arizona. Let me sum it up: Arizona is in mountain time all-year. This puts it on Pacific Time most of the year. Except Navajo nation lands in northeast Arizona. Which form an enclave of the Hopi reservation, which do observe DST. So it’s possible to see an ETA of 8:48 PM at 8:46 PM and you’re still 47 miles from your destination. 🫠

A view of Utah or Arizona, with vaguely-car-shaped hills in the background.
“That’s a real Cars-ass view”.

We were clearly passing through the Route 66-adjacent scenery that inspired much of Pixar’s Cars film. I highly recommend this scenery. I recommend the Cars land section of Disney California Adventure more than the film. The film is a nice chaser to the amusement park. Such is the quality of the Imagineering work!

A simple lap desk set-up. Not really a desk at all.
A humble, but functional kind of setup.

Current desk situation: not remarkable. This AirBnB is not well configured for remote work. So, a lapdesk it is. Not a desk at all, really. 🤷🏻‍♂️
