[CDS] Day 2-4 – Denver
Surprise, you're in Oklahoma!
I’m Adam Keys, and you’re reading “Current Desk Situation”, a brief travelogue from Austin, TX to Portland, OR.
We accidentally drove through the Oklahoma panhandle for an hour or so. Many shocked-and-offended Hank Hill reactions were had. Blame software and trying to stay on low-numbered highways with good cellular coverage. If we could have gone through New Mexico or straight to Colorado, we would have!
Reader, I was not prepared for the intensity of the sun when I’m merely a single mile closer to it. On a cloudless day, it gives credence to the idea of death rays. Hats off to Colorado residents, sunny days here clearly require some planning (and/or carrying sunscreen on your person at all times, I assume).
Current desk situation is better than sitting in a car for several hours. I had to reconfigure the Airbnb’s breakfast table situation to suit. It’s not the full setup, but it works pretty well. Buying a secondary monitor was a great idea, all things considered. But the real winner for this setup is copious natural light. You can’t beat it.
No big reflection this time. I’m in a place, doing my reading, writing, napping thing. In this way, travel isn’t much different from my status quo. That’s nice.
