War of Words - The Progressive Media Conference is Back for a Second Year!

The media has always played a major role in shaping politics and public opinion, and continues to do so today. Given Brexit, given Trump and given the failure of the media to effectively build alternative narratives to the jingoistic, anti-migrant status quo, we need a new media now more than ever.
That's why we're bringing War of Words back to Norwich for a second year! On March 4th, we'll be bringing hundreds of people together to discuss and debate the future of the media and how we can work to make it progressive.
This year, we have an incredible range of speakers, from Green Party Deputy Leader Amelia Womack to New Internationalist writer Hazel Healey, and from NUS Black Students Officer Aadam Muuse to Korantema Anyimadu of Arts Emergency, and more.
All of them will be coming to share their thoughts on what we need to do to build a better media future after years of xenophobia, sensationalism, scandal, collusion with the political elite, and the failure to offer an alternative. We desperately need a media that challenges, rather than reinforces oppression; that holds political and corporate actors to account and that builds power among social movements and the population more broadly.
With just a month to go until the event, make sure you don't miss out on your opportunity to take part in that debate.
Register for War of Words 2017 now.
