The Road to War of Words 2018

The event will take place in Norwich yet again, on 10th February 2018, in the Student Union of UEA. We are still at the planning stage for several key features of the event, but we are asking for any contribution towards our fundraising efforts, to ensure the best free delivery of one of our crowning achievements as a publication. You can see a video highlighting our 2017 event below, which features brief interviews with Adam Ramsay, Amelia Womack, professor Lyndsey Stonebridge of University of East Anglia (UEA), Chris T-T, and Hazel Healy of New Internationalist.
The coming year's event will once more consider and question the place of alternative, independent media in a landscape increasingly dominated by reactionary, tabloid-shaped information, overt propaganda, intentional misreporting, abuses of power, and narrative manipulation. As freedoms of the press and journalists' rights are reduced with each passing day worldwide, we plan to highlight and explore the multiple venues and platforms that aim to speak the truth, and hold the powers that be accountable - in all of the forms that 'media' allows.
We're gathering some of our funding through merchandise sales and charging organisations for stalls, but we can't cover everything this way alone. So that's where you come in!
What your money could go towards:
- £5 would allow us to print 250 fliers
- £10 would allow us to print 50 posters
- £30 would allow us to reimburse one speaker's transport expenses
- £100 would allow us to fund a panel of speakers, including all transport expenses
In the meantime, keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook feeds, as we'll be recruiting for a new Editor next week!
In solidarity,
The Norwich Radical Editorial Team
