The Norwich Radical - A Workers' Co-op

Subscriber Welcome to the latest edition of the Norwich Radical newsletter, and a new academic year -- as we're reminded that the fight still very much continues for a fairer educational system.

Academia in 2017 is rife with class discrimination while Vice-Chancellors sit back with six figures salaries, and the government flirts with the seemingly dangerous option of two-year degrees. In particular we stand in solidarity with and welcome home our international students who face a government set on exploiting them. As always, the Norwich Radical stands firm in its alignment with free education and access to all who wish to pursue it.

In more positive news, on Friday September 29th, People & Planet launched a a set of Principles for Ethical Reporting on Migration. They were announced alongside a host of writers, journalists, editors, artists, public figures, and politicians. The Norwich Radical, as a media entity and collective of individuals, is proud to share and endorse these principles. UK media has a duty to fairly, humanely, and accurately report on situations dealing with migrants and migration, in a way it hasn't done consistently or at all up to this point. It is time for that to change.

Check out the principles and all the incredible signatories, and if you agree, please share it around, spread the word and get any journalists, politicians, and writers you know to sign up!

In other NR news, we're looking to expand our team and have vacancies in our Inter|national section! We're looking for pieces that can show important stories in a radical new light, or bring issues marginalised by mainstream media to the fore. If writing for us is something you've been interested in, and you're keen to join our team, drop us an application by Saturday October 14th.

And on a final note, we'd like to thank some long-standing writers who have officially left the team in the last two months - Hannah Rose, Natasha Senior, Joe Burns, and Eve Lacroix. We wish them all the best with their next endeavours, and look forward to working with them again in the future!
