Thank you, and goodbye...

The Norwich Radical was founded 3 years ago. Over that time, we’ve published over 1,000 articles, held two conferences bringing more than 300 people together to discuss and debate the future of the media and built a team in excess of 30 writers, readers, editors, workers, students, activists, poets and artists.
We’ve broken news stories, covered major developments in the politics and arts world of Norwich, and published articles written by the likes of Caroline Lucas, Mike Carey, Tom Watson, Amelia Womack, Jonathan Bartley and Gareth Thomas.
We’ve interviewed Natalie Bennett, John Robb, Frank Habineza, the late Erik Petersen, The Tuts, Sonic Boom Six, Carl Schlyter and Chris T-T, taken part in marches and demonstrations, and delivered training workshops across Norfolk and the rest of the UK.
When Cadi and I founded The Norwich Radical three years ago, we had little idea of where we wanted to take it. We had little ambition, but many ideas. We couldn’t have dreamed we’d have built a community as big and as strong as we have.
In our ever more depressing political context — where the far right are on the march across the western world, where climate change continues unabated, where military conflicts are intensified, where in the UK our public sector is being decimated and our welfare state torn apart — it’s more important than ever before that we have a radical, open and progressive media, that holds corporate and political actors to account, that offers alternative viewpoints and that builds power in social movements.
While, as of today, I will no longer be a part of the day to day running of The Norwich Radical, I’m proud to say that I’m leaving behind a publication that is a core part of creating that alternative media future. The Norwich Radical will continue, with a strengthened and emboldened team of editors, taking our work and growing our influence into the future.
And it is down to all of you that we have come this far. Those of you who have read, written or shared an article, come to a Norwich Radical event or helped us to fundraise – all of you have supported and played your part in building a better media.
Thank you, and goodbye.
In solidarity,
Chris Jarvis – Co-Founder and former Co-Editor, The Norwich Radical
