Recruiting new editors and other news

Subscriber

We are looking to further grow our team and we have opened recruitment for new editors for the three sections of Perspectives, Community, and Student!

We are looking for individuals committed to changing the media landscape, taking on the time to learn how The Norwich Radical operates, acts, and works - you will learn, develop, and hone organising and coordinating skills, and join a international team of activists and writers.

For more information, check our application details here. Deadline is midnight on 11th September 2020 (UK time). Note: You do not have to be based in the UK to apply.

As The Norwich Radical, we endeavour to persist in our work of education and resistance. Anti-racism and BLM fading out of the forefront of public discussion, we must remember and remind ourselves that Black Lives Matter is not just a slogan, a hashtag or a trend - it is a movement. Protests and uprisings are still happening abroad and nationally, and will not cease until policing, prisons, and all other forms of oppressive, cultural supremacy are abolished. That includes the 'discourse' around people left to die in their attempt to reach a safer shore, be it by crossing the Channel or the Mediterranean.

We realise that following the entirety of the news: from our own personal failures towards our younger generations, and news from other European countries such as Poland and Belarus, the Philippines, India, and the permanent US presidency circus and domestic terrorism is almost impossible. Media is both doing its best and its worst at reporting of the dangers of the continually rising tide of authoritarianism, while also abetting and normalising its use of language. Our co-editor Alex wrote a piece about this very issue over at PEN Trasmissions, if it is of interest.

We encourage all of you to take time where possible to self-care and avoid fatigue and burn out.

Good luck, and solidarity.
