Join the Norwich Radical Team!

Subscriber It's a new academic year, and as good a time as any to bring on new regular contributors! We have vacancies for volunteers in most of our sections - namely, Perspectives, InterNational, Student and Community!

We are looking for writing that can show important stories in a radical new light, or bring issues marginalised by mainstream media to the fore, with a specific focus on the themes and topics that the applicants’ chosen section specialises in. If you or anyone you know might be a good fit for our publication, send along an application as detailed here.

Applicants will commit to writing an article of 600-1000 words in their section on a monthly or fortnightly basis. All Norwich Radical contributors work on a voluntary basis.

In news from mainstream media you might have heard about the coordinated efforts of anti-trans and right-wing writers and extremists that have been shaping the UK media landscape. BylineTimes have full coverage of the situation, and it is well worth a read as a reminder of the need for a better media environment outside of the toxicity of UK media groups - including the recent failure GB News.

The Radical was founded with the mission to challenge these kinds of warped mainstream media narratives. You could help us with this work by applying to join the team - or sharing this email with someone else. As for party politics, the past month has seen the new joint leaders of the Green Party, Carla Denyer and Adrian Ramsay, take their seats. Meanwhile, the Labour leadership continues to drag their party back to the right, with Keir Starmer going as far as contributing an article for The Sun amongst general cries for a return to Blairism (who is still a war criminal, by the way) and some distasteful comments on the passing of Blair critic John Chilcot. In much better news, we are happy to share a new series organised by the Norwich Millennium Library as part of Norfolk Black History Month 2021, focusing on Black footballers - the series kicked off on 4th October, but you can still sign up for free for the next three events here.

Wherever you are right now, and at whatever stage of pandemic coping you might be, we hope you are safe and doing as well as you can.

In solidarity,
