Introducing Our New Contributors

Subscriber Welcome to springtime. We hope that you've been able to enjoy the more clement weather of late. There are certainly good reasons to be out of doors, with protests up and down the country regarding the killing of Sarah Everard and the PCSC Bill.

Spring is a time for the new, and in our case that means new writers! We are very pleased to be able to introduce Alessandra, Ash and Joseph, the newest members of the Norwich Radical team. Alessandra is located in southern Italy. After graduating from UEA in 2019, she moved back to her hometown where she spends her time writing, chilling with her cats and taking care of her plants. Her primary focus in her writing for our Inter|National section will be migratory fluxes across the Mediterranean - starting with her debut article on Social Media, Celebrity, and Migrant Rights Activism in Italy. Ash is a skateboarder, anarchist, protest camper, musician and promoter. His opening article for our Arts section is a timely and practical look at the future of the underground music scene. Joseph is a woodworker living in South East London, and another UEA graduate. His experiences of manual work figure centrally in his recent article on Simone Weil and the mysticism of work. You can expect this philosophical streak to continue in upcoming writings for the Arts and Perspectives sections. Symbolically, spring is the time of hope; historically, it is the time that imperialist governments often choose to go to war. This year, Johnson's government is renewing its war on civil liberties and the right to dissent from an increasingly brutal status quo. But many stand in resistance, as our Inter|National Editor Yali reported this week.

As always, whether you are taking to the streets or not, we hope you stay safe, and find power where you can.

In Solidarity,
The Norwich Radical Editorial Team
