International Working Women's Day

A piece published in The Norwich Radical in 2015 reminded us that:
There’s a long history of trying to erase class struggle from feminism, and ignoring the 'working' in International Working Women’s day is one way to do this. On March 8th we didn’t celebrate the wives of the factory owners who did nothing to aid the appalling factory conditions women were subjected to, or privileged women who fought with men of their own class for the right to exploit those at the bottom. On March 8th we celebrated the courage and tenacity of the women who organised and fought for their rights in the face of so much adversity, and those who continue to do so the world over.
The current military coup and its aftermath in Myanmar (for which our Inter|National editor Yali is fundraising), the continued arrests and repression in Hong Kong, the Farmers' Movement Protest in India, the current crises in Tigray and Senegal, recent news from the Philippines and the continuation of aggressive US foreign policy amidst the ongoing global health emergency - a lot is happening, and keeping track of it all can be extremely difficult and draining.
To this point, a reminder that we are always looking for ad hoc, one-off pieces on topics that fit our coverage and values. If you're interested in writing about art, politics, identity or local or student issues, we want to hear from you, especially if your interests lie beyond the scope of mainstream national media -- clearly still too busy with royalist gossip, denial of systemic racism, and a complete lack of integrity.
In the meantime: Stay strong, stay angry, and stay safe.
In Solidarity,
The Norwich Radical Editorial Team
