Hi Subscriber We all know just how bad 2016 has been, with the far right on the march once again on both sides of the Atlantic. Media has played a major role in fueling the fires of fascism, with inaccurate reporting on migration, columnists perpetrating myths, and publications pushing the message that the ills of the world are the fault of our neighbours and colleagues, not politicians and corporations.

If you haven't already heard, as part of our response to that, we're deep in the process of planning for the second annual Progressive Media Conference - War of Words 2017. 

On March 4th 2017, with a wide range of speakers — including NUS Black Students Officer Aadam Muuse, Green Party Deputy Leader Amelia Womack and Positive News Editor-in-Chief Séan Dagan Wood — we're starting a conversation about how we can combat the xenophobic, reactionary and right-wing narratives within the majority of the mainstream media. 

We've already raised more than £100 to make the conference go ahead. But we still need a little more. If you could spare just a little money and give us a helping hand this Christmas, it really could make all the difference. We're asking people to donate as little as £5 to make War of Words as big and as broad as it needs to be.
