Beat the Heat

Some of the hottest day across Europe have taken the news, reminding us of the constant state of climate emergency - while coinciding with the coldest shower for UK society, all of its citizens and communities, and the economy along with us, as a new lying, racist, Tory Prime Minister was appointed in Boris Johnson.
Meanwhile, the BBC decides to give a platform to known abusive nazi and manipulator Steve Bannon, the USA administration keeps proving that there is no end to disgusting, inhumane behaviour, the Netanhyahu government admits it may be killing people, and who knows what on earth is going on in the Mediterranean or in Hong Kong.
The good times just keep rolling, huh?

In slightly more positive news, Norwich Pride took place last weekend, and we hope everyone who was able to attend enjoyed this moment of protest, of celebration, of chosen family in the fullest - despite the pinkwashing capitalistic background to a lot of the event programme. Not all LGBTQIA+ communities are allowed or able to do so, as we have seen from Russia, Poland, or Turkey just recently.
For a different flavour of Pride celebration, make sure to visit Pimp My Unicorn, organised by local artivist Vince Laws, which is still running until this Saturday, 3rd August. Make sure to drop in for the various events still in programme, including the free art show and the Subvertising Workshop!
Keeping on the same theme, a few words from our Arts editor and poetry night organiser, Ewa, about our own event at PMU last 24th July:
A massive thank you to everyone who came, performed, listened or helped out with the evening! We hope you've had a fantastic time and hopefully we will see you next time.

Special thanks to Radicore member Lewis Martin, as well as editor Ewa, and all our performers from the night: Will Shorey, Greta Nadine, Isaac Ahmer, Kasper Norén, Rowan Anderson, Eileen Mulvaney, Agniete Radziunaite, Westley Barnes, Adam Casey, Kathryn Leigh, Izzy Jarvis, Ellie Reeves, Aliyah Rawat, Flora Wheeler.
Wishing you all cool times in the heat, engaged artivism, and a good start to August.
