Another year ends; the struggle goes on

The world may feel a little better off to some of us this month, as a certain incumbent's attempts to appeal election results founder one by one. But we cannot forget that those of us most marginalised and oppressed by the status quo are still living through real hostility day-to-day.
The struggle for Trans Rights goes on. This week alone has seen disappointment, as Lush admit donating to an anti-trans pressure group, frustration, as a High Court ruling creates more obstacles for under-16s to access puberty blockers, and inspiration, in the form of Elliott Page's moving statements about coming out as trans. While mainstream media oscillates between overt transphobia and debating the 'trans issue' as though trans folks are just points of policy and not actual people, alternative and queer reporting has a crucial role to play in shifting the narrative.
Here at the Radical, we are developing plans for more dedicated coverage of trans rights struggles, which platforms trans voices rather than sidelining them. Look out for that in the new year. If you would be interested in contributing to that coverage, either by sharing your own experience or helping to showcase that of others, please get in touch.
December can be a stressful month for many, particularly those working in healthcare and hospitality, and that is only more true during a pandemic. Whatever your circumstances, we hope you are able to find some time for your friends, your family and yourself.
Solidarity and happy holidays,
