A Radical Overhaul

Subscriber You will have probably noticed that we have been quiet on several fronts, but especially on our site. The last couple of months have been dedicated to reinventing The Norwich Radical, in order to keep up with the evolving media landscape, and stay relevant to our readers. A radical reinvention, if you will!

The Norwich Radical and its team are committed to providing insightful analysis of politics and the arts, and that will not change! We're just changing the way we do things to accommodate our writers, editors, and volunteers' workload and schedules.

This is the last monthly newsletter you will receive in this format, as we switch to a bi-monthly digest. The new model will include:
  • Extracts from the articles uploaded to our main site, which will be live by the time you receive the digest.
  • Any relevant piece of news regarding local activism, events, or politics that did not make it into that cycle's writing.
  • A spotlight on a piece from the NR archives that we deem relevant for the cycle.
If you have the means to do so, our Steady page is still the best way to offer monetary support to help the transition and maintenance of all back-end work; additionally, you will get regular updates on what that support goes to pay for, such as early previews at the new sticker art you can see below! In recent, local news: reports and official communication from UEA in January had confirmed that the university is operating at a loss, blaming a lack of student recruitment and increased cost of staff.

Unsurprisingly, no word was spent on the ridiculous expenses of management and development for the sake of 'prestige', opting instead for anti-union propaganda.

The latter did not go entirely unnoticed, however, as union staff suggested that perhaps leadership was to at least share some of the responsibility, displaying no confidence in its leadership. VC David Richardson has since resigned, rather than attempt to offer a solution, or - gods forbid - reduce management salaries. More is yet to come from our almost decade old publication, and we thank you for sticking with us so far! Solidarity,
