A self-indulgent post after a tough week
Feel free to skip this one.
I don’t know what is going on, but this week seems to have put a lot of us through the wringer. I got sicker than I’ve gotten in years (I’m fine now), my sister had to go to the ER in the middle of writing a thesis (she’s also fine now), and one of my friends had to watch an entire season of Love is Blind (status unclear). So I’m rewarding myself with a low-effort post for the random stuff kicking around in my head that deserves mentioning but not full posts to themselves.1 Enjoy?
I cannot stop thinking about the Carmen trailer
What. is. happening. I know this is a huge insult but it’s kind of giving American Dirt—just a little! We can only hope their marketing team learned from the barbed wire flower holders. All that said, I fully intend to be one of the first people in the theater because I love mess. That tattoo though… yikes.
Speaking of Paul Mescal
Either bring the Streetcar Named Desire revival he was in across the Atlantic or stop tweeting about it. I am Tantalus, this play is my grapes.
My latest musical obsession: “bardcore”
It’s such a gimmick but it’s a great gimmick. Here are some of my favorites:

My parents’ dog, because you deserve it
No one cares but I am ditching the italicized titles formatting for at least this post and maybe forever. Inconsistent and probably incorrect formatting is just one of this blog’s many charms.
I know he’s not going to win which is a huge shame because this performance was solid gold and Aftersun was so snubbed for best picture. Also, why is he literally everywhere right now?
I’m just having fun rooting against it for now but I promise that cities will burn if it wins over Everything Everywhere for best picture or Women Talking for best adapted screenplay.
