NuNu's Epic Summer: Adventures and Olympic Dreams
This summer has been a whirlwind of activity and accomplishments for NuNu. Her dedication and hard work paid off as she completed her first gymnastics competition session with a stellar performance, securing 2nd place all-around at the Maryland state championships back in May. This has fueled her passion even more, and she's now practicing upwards of 12 hours a week, gearing up for her second competition season. NuNu was glued to the TV watching the Olympic Trials. She was especially excited to cheer for gymnast Khoi Young from Bowie, MD who trained at her home gym. It was an inspiring and motivating experience for her, seeing someone from her own community striving for greatness on such a grand stage.
But it wasn't all about gymnastics this summer. NuNu also dipped back into the world of dance and attended intensive classes that honed her skills. She’s now campaigning to take more dance classes this fall.
One of the highlights of her summer was attending sleep-away camp for the first time. She slept a week at Camp Riverview (Scotland, MD) and another week at Black Land Bridge (Crewe, VA). It was a fantastic experience filled with new friendships and unforgettable memories. She embraced the great outdoors and learned some incredible new skills. From starting a campfire from scratch to working on the farm, installing a zipline on campgrounds, kayaking, and lake swimming, she truly connected with nature. One of the most magical moments was sleeping under the stars. She’s a ranger with a Firestarter to prove it. 😀
