It Hath Arrived! Pre-Order A System for Writing Today and Get it July 9th
I am thoroughly stoked to announce that my latest book, A System for Writing, comes out Tuesday, July 9, arriving in two delicious formats—print and ebook. The print book has...how shall I say...a wonderful hand-feel. I love it. The digital ebook is glorious in its own right, complete with hawt-linked cross-references (see below). I spent a lot of time cursing at the world getting the ebook visually on par with the print. With over seventy images and tables, along with dozens of cross-references and over a hundred and forty endnotes, it took multiple ten-hour days to get it right. And, I am happy to say, it is right.
And, the ebook is now available for pre-order. Huzzah!

Bots Love Pre-Orders
As much as I really want you to pre-order the paperback, Amazon strangely doesn't "do print preorders." So, you'll have to wait to order the print on July 9 (see below). Nevertheless, the bots at Amazon get proper excited about pre-orders and will do all sorts of wonderful things for my book's visibility if you buy it now. (The book is currently ranked as #1 New Release in the writing category due to said pre-orders) So, if you've a penchant for reading digital books, this is a great time to get on the waiting list. It helps me, it helps us defeat the Cylons, it helps all beings exit the wheel of samsara.
Paperback Out July 9th
If, like me, you prefer experiencing books in its original, paper format, fret not. The print edition comes out the same day as the Kindle ebook. Although, strangely again, you will not see the print book on the Amazon page until it's released. For some reason that's the way Amazon likes to do things.
Images Galore
Despite Amazonian shenanigans, this book is teeming with intel, insights, inspo, and images. Lots and lots of images.

Who Doesn't Love a Cross-Reference?
In true zettelkasten fashion, A System for Writing embraces the non-linear reading experience.
Throughout this book, you'll notice in-line, parenthetical citations (shown below), which point the reader to other sections of the book that speak to or otherwise inform the passage that preceded it. These citations, while serving a practical function, reflect the system itself, where sections reinforce and are reinforced by each other:
What My Beta Readers Said
I was truly fortunate to have more than a dozen amazing beta readers give me feedback on the first complete draft. Here's what they said:
- "The first book on zettelkasten that actually gets it."
- "Demystifies all the confusion you might have about zettelkasten."
- "Will definitely get you up and running with your own system for writing."
- "Expect to feel inspired to write more!”
- "One of the most intelligent and clear voices in personal knowledge management."
