'is this where it happened?'

Hello hello, hey there–thanks for opening! It took me a while to get to a writing space, and like many creatives out there I am so damn beat lol. But here we are. Let’s go find something useful out there. -K

It’s been a week – the Taliban retaking Afghanistan after the pullout of US troops, the Commission on Audit’s findings on several agencies, especially the Department of Health, online misbehavior and homophobia by esports athletes, and the COVID-19 surge getting closer and closer still, afflicting friends and family as hotspots like Metro Manila shift in and out of indecipherable community quarantines with dubious guidelines that have not improved at all over the span of more than a year.

It’s no wonder our brains are overloaded. I don’t blame anyone who would like to spend the weekend tuning the world out.

But I suppose I’d just like to highlight something that really stood out for me this week, and it is this anecdote of Vice President Leni Robredo visiting the site where the chopper carrying her late husband, former Interior Secretary and Naga Mayor Jesse Robredo, had crashed.

The story resurfaced, of course, on the occasion of Sec Jesse’s ninth death anniversary on the 18th, and it dismantled me in four words: Ini daa ang lugar? (Is this where it happened?)

Related to the Robredos: This entire thread, but also, this phrase in particular: Wag tayo niyan, kasi baka masanay tayo.

#RememberingJesse #DapatRobredo #HusayAtTibay 💪🏼

What I Learned While Eavesdropping on the Taliban via The Atlantic

Somebody compiled all the clips related to the lesbian Soljiwan storyline on Nevertheless in a thread and I am so invested. Thank you for doing the Lord’s work OP.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot:

Amal Hussein ✊🏿💜
@nomadtechie

@maggiepint @cassidoo I’ve noticed “girl job” is often synonymous with “glue job”. It’s the less visible underlayer of work that makes ALL the other work possible. Our recency bias towards final outcome & visible layers of work devalues this critical foundation groundwork of building roads & bridges.

I see so many people doing these glue jobs and basically keeping things together LIKE LITERAL GLUE and I am infuriated at how exhausting it is for them (not to mention all the credit-grabbing that’s an extra layer of stress smh)

Also, a reminder for the End Times

Kung mayroong money cake, mayroon ding “liniment” cake na tiyak na makapapawi rin sa pagod at sakit sa kasukasuan ng celebrant. 😅 📷: Le Gré Cakeshop
