Dear friends,

A few months ago we played a very special show at my friend Ev’s house. For me, it was one of my favorite show I’ve ever played, and I am so grateful to Ev for hosting and for everyone who came out. Getting to play our songs in a quiet space full of attentive friends was really beautiful. We had the ambitious idea to record audio and video of the show and release a live album/live movie of the performance, and at long last… it is ready to be released! The Grebes — Live at Ev’s comes out on Wednesday, May 20th.

Our wonderful bass player Ned did an amazing job leading the camera work and editing together the videos. You can watch the video for “Down To Zero” now, full of awesome psychedelic effects, and the rest of the show will be up on Youtube next week. I took a stab at mixing and mastering the album myself, which made me remember why I paid someone else to mix and master our last album. It is quite tricky to get it all sounding right! All things considered I’m pretty pleased with how the sound turned out and that we were able to make a live recording work at all.

If you couldn’t make it out to the show, here’s your chance to listen (and watch!) There are some old familiar songs and some newer tunes we’ve been playing live lately. As always, buying the album on Bandcamp is the best way to support us.
