Excercise was getting a little difficult lately. Mostly due to the fact that I do it alone. A friend suggested reaching out to online communities so I went ahead and did that.

A young lad named Tommy reached out and followed up a few times. This is so exceedingly rare, I knew that I must run with him.
We met up for an "easy" lap around Lake Union. The group at the moment is but a duo. Tommy the aspiring ultrarunner and Brady the former D1 long-distance runner. I did my best to keep up with them while Brady talked the whole time, the best I could offer was brief 1 to 2-word breathless answers. I have never run that fast in my life.
I guess I ran well enough to get invited to the next thing.

"Sounds wonderful"
I knew this run wouldn't be complete unless I also biked to Tommy's house - which was 6 miles away. I've been watching
videos of track bikes in NYC and was feeling especially inspired to bike hard and fast.
So, I set my alarm for 4:10AM. Of course, that means I woke up at 2:50 and then got up at 3:30. These things usually go like that.
I
put on the perfect song to prepare for whatever was in front of me. I straight up flew through the night. Biking at this time everything blurs together. The fluorescent of the laundry mat, the orange glow of the street light, the reds/greens/yellows of the street lights. All slightly diffused by light morning fog. I covered the 6 miles in 20 minutes.
To not be late for the actual run we drove the whole way on 'empty'. Arriving we were joined by Bruce (an ultramarathoner in his 50s) and Gabriel (an outdoor instructor). I did not know what to make of this odd group of savages.
The first 40 minutes was a warmup. The second hour we followed a simple rule: run for 10 minutes up, 2 minutes down, repeat till you summit.
They described the hill as 'a beautiful hill'. The last two inclines had grades of 19%. I did my best to stay with Tommy and Brady. It was the most painful run I have done in a long long time.
I think I am going to go back next Tuesday.
I'm still on the fence about making friends on the internet.
