Tiny Adventure #1
Was it hot in Seattle? I don't know. Look up the average temperature in Ahwaz, Iran. Or Phoenix. That's a city. People live there. Human people.
A little bit ago, a heat wave passed through the northwest including here. It got a little warm. Just as all things here, people acted completely rational and did not melt down. Whole Foods became a goofy wasteland. The hot and ready food was cleared out as Amazon engineers feared for their very lives (no one touched the cold cuts, vegetables or anything that would require basic preparation).
My smart friends (which is all of you! promise!) went to the lake and made friends. Apparently it was so hot that even strangers talked to each other. This answers the age old question, "What is the melting point of the Seattle Freeze?".
I on the other hand made a bad decision and decided to wait it out in my office. I ended up spending 22 hours there. A group of rogue interns also attempted and some of them failed. This was not because they messaged pictures of their nests on a company slack channel, but because they lacked the inventiveness and resourcefulness of a man that has truly steeped himself in the frugality that this company was founded on (I lived off of leftover beans and rice from a presentation for a week once).
I slept terribly on a half inflated camping pad, using one sweatshirt as a pillow and another one as a blanket. If I ever do this again <I had planned on listing all the things I would do differently, including an air mattress and movie marathon with best friend, but I am never NEVER *NEVER* doing this again>.
Lesson learned: when in doubt always go to the lake.
Tiny Adventure #2
While stuck in my office I whittled a chopstick using a pair of office scissors. The end result looked like a prison shiv.
I used this to clean my phone's charging port. It had finally stopped charging and I thought I might have to (*gasp*) buy a new one.
Thank you random stranger on youtube. Despite multiple holes in the screen and the volume buttons falling off, the phone lives to fight another day.
Lesson learned: can't really come up with a good lesson here...

This on Kevin Durant - "He wants to show them that he is an actual human, just like them, with his own fears and hatreds and longings. He wants to connect with them on that level. Even the
angry ones, he believes, have good hearts. Hatred, he told me, is just another form of passion, and therefore a sign that you’re really alive"

This scene from Before Midnight - Love seen through different stages of life, ending with something to ponder the balance between friendship and romantic relationships
PS #2:
Gaël update: He's in France. It's been almost 4 weeks and I'm ready to see him again
DJ update: Wrapping up a long vacation, grateful for a good bachelor party with my little brother (described as "pure chaos"), still training, still reading, still writing, starting to work on some long term goals (hope I can share some updates on these next time) - for those that asked for it, the physical newsletter will is coming in a little bit...
