The Newsletter about The Newsletter

I was really excited to do the follow-up on the last newsletter offline. But it took a little work.

First I had to make the envelopes. I take old paper bags and glue maps on the inside of them. It takes forever and it would be easier to just to use regular envelopes, but I enjoy it.

Next I needed to write a little note to each person. Just to say "Hello". I don't think I did a very good job with these, I'm not very good at writing, but I really enjoying trying.

Then since it's actually a newsletter, I wrote an update (plus two overly dramatic essays). This felt easier to write, but was also equally as bad as the notes. There is a theme here.

While doing this, I realized I needed to give people an incentive to actually read all of this bad writing (I wish I could send out chocolate with these e-mails).

Finally I needed to stamp the envelope with my own personal little touch.

Gael is reading! Not too quickly yet, but he is. I realize this is normal, but it seems momentous to me. The goal of the summer is to get him involved in activities. Climbing, Jiu Jitsu, Baseball, whatever I can (ideas welcome!).

He'll be going to France for 4 weeks with his mother. I'm going to miss him so much. I thought about taking a trip in parallel, but it's probably better to let that happen independently.

I'm doing well. Still exercising, enjoying the books I'm getting to read and sending out letters. Now that the weather has turned the corner here in Seattle I've been taking long late evening rides listening to some truly great music.

The only thing I'll complain about is that it's been a bit too solitary. Come picnic with me, ride a bike or jump in the lake on these really hot days.

Cowabunga dude,

DJ

PS: I'm going to send another offline newsletter - if you want it, let me know (I'm probably not going to send out more than 10)
PPS: Since Gael is going to be in France for 4 weeks, I need to come up with an adventure plan. I'm thinking wandering in the mountains, riding my bike in a new city and dancing, what am I missing?
