The car's first name is

The coyotes started at 3am...

A bark and then a series of howls. Call and reply. It takes me back to camping deep in the Oregon trees at 9 years old.

We spent the night on a side street in Marin City. Somewhere between a church and a community center. Andrew is a little salty about this. Does not love it, asks me if tonight we're going to camp in front of Sundar Pichai's home where I can hold a sign "Will code for food". I love this.

For me this is a continuation of the trip really starting to take off. We've driven over 850 miles so far, held the happiest baby, eaten the best soup on the planet, seen redwoods, touched the ocean and now we're right at the midpoint in terms of distance with 5 days remaining. I'm loving this adventure.

Our adventure vehicle is a Toyota Rav-4 which we've nicknamed "Danger" as the front right tire is worn almost bald. Danger is a little too short for us to lay down completely comfortably in the back, so we've moved up the seats and built temporary platforms out of our backpacks and miscellaneous things. Sleep so far has been mostly ok.

Ahead of us lies the California coast and hopefully slower on the beach. We're going to see a cleaned up San Francisco today (thank you President Xi!) and the aquarium later today. I'm very excited to conquer LA in a day or two. There is a real hunger to meet more people and hear more stories.

I'm hoping that I'm bothering anyone with the more frequent updates, I'll send one more when we get a quiet moment in San Diego.

Cowabunga dude,

DJ
