I was curious the other day how old my Gmail address was. Turns out I signed up a few weeks after it launched, when exactly I don't know, I just remember clicking a button on Blogger. I had forgotten I was sending updates then so I guess the newsletter is a little over 20 years old.

Gaël and I have started playing Breath of the Wild again. Mostly just him. He's finally old enough where he can do most of the puzzles himself and has started playing the quests instead of just trying to fight everyone. Seeing how his mind works and grows is fascinating. He gets so fixated on a topic and can just spend hours thinking about it and discussing it.
I'm trying to encourage him to take as much advantage of this beautiful summer weather. Andrew gifted us with a ripstik and Gaël has taken to it wonderfully. I was amazed at how fast he picked it up. I'm in dire need of expanding out his collection of wheels with some other form of skateboard (either penny board or longboard) and a larger bike.
We're excited to keep seeing his best friend Henry and get the boys out hiking/camping this summer.

I'm doing fine.
I'm enjoying the margins of the days. Warm late night bike rides, watching the lights of the city on the water. Early mornings watching the rowers race under the bridge. Losing myself in music - Santana, old Jazz and British Drill. Naps at Gasworks with a good book, followed by sunsets. It's not quite hot enough to swim yet, it's just pleasant to lounge outside. The heat will come in a week or two and I'll float on my back watching clouds.
I'd like to try Colman pool for the first time. I'd like to stop eating so many peanut butter pretzels and M&Ms at the office. I'd like to eat a lot more ice cream. I'd like to find a way to weave a consistent gym routine in my schedule (I'd like to be a "gym rat"). I'd like to write more letters. I'd like to keep the cadence of weekly dates. I'd like to use my phone less, or maybe I'd like to use it better I'm not sure. I'd like to take more bus/plane/train rides where I can write these.
Next time I'll try to bring a story. Hope today a favorite summer thing in store for you,
Cowabunga Dude,
DJ

Rest easy Grandpa
