Margaritas and Baby Duck - Thanksgiving with the Petersens

I never realized how much I have fallen in love with Thanksgiving. It is slowly becoming my favorite holiday(my anti-valentine's day). A holiday that for me revolves around friends, family and food. The most important part's of my life(I promise food probably doesn't come first). It's my second year away from Corvallis and the second year without gravy, post meal football game, meeting old high school buddies, walking over the fall leaves to Cronemiller lake and apple crumble.

Despite all of this, it was a magnificent day. Of course, it contained the traditional elements of Thanksgiving: some falafel(warm up snacks for the cooking), margaritas, canette(which we struggled to translate - it was either a large baby duckling or a young female duck...), a video of a fireplace, and roughly 4 pounds of cheese. The meal itself stretched over 7 hours and managed to touch almost every corner of our apartment. We all ended stumbling out in semi-conscious food comas. I slept hard that night with the warmth of the duck still in my belly. I am secretly hoping for a week of meals like this around Christmas, did someone say raclette?

(I had typed up a two paragraph rant on the entitlement of old French people, but I will spare you all. You can high five my backspace key - no it will not make the rest of this go away)

We're both pulling ourselves through the week. My job is reaching a fever pitch(we launch in a week) and Céline is cramming to pull everything together for her upcoming exams. It looks like it's going to be another week of boxed soup and frozen pizzas(tomorrow is Mardi Fou at Dominos!), I guess such is the way of the modern urban adventurer.

My cold seems to just keep hanging around. It is almost annoying in it's mildness. I think I am better till I get outside and then my nose just goes crazy. Or feeling fine, but still waking up with a dry sore throat. I am taking it a little easier, for now no more wild bombing down hills and flying through intersections(also I had my first little tumble).

Gaël is all good though. Suddenly he likes hugging now and it's awesome. Here is a little video of him getting stuck in a box.

Ok time to pass out. Writing this thing weekly is tough.

Hang ten dude,
