I haven't written in a while, I've been moving through the world and searching for words.
One family tradition is to go around and share things we are thankful for.
My son. Who has grown so much this past year, who oscillates between babbling about Minecraft and Pokemon and dropping the odd profound statement. Six has been such a fun year. I've enjoyed being able to share more activities with him and watch him start to read. We can now alternate sentences in "big" books.
My friends. Who are fun, kind, clever and funny (notable omission: good looking). Grateful both for new seeds that have been planted and old roots that have grown deeper. This has strangely been a quieter year than 2020. Pandemic concerns and a new schedule with Gael has made time seem like it flies by. Looking forward to more adventures outside the city and hopefully in the mountains.
Imagine a good picture of my family here - couldn't find one that had everyone in it...
My family. Another brother married, more weekends in Corvallis and a few hundred hours on the phone. Thanks for putting up with me and my terrible jokes.
And in no certain order: sunsets, computers, sunshine, protein bars, week-long dates, picnics, multi-day hikes with HKJB, bicycles and sparkling water.
Our next adventure will be our best one. Cowabunga Dude,
DJ
PS: Cousin Jenna, I still can't believe you read these things...what a treat. 2022 will be the year of the cousin. Now that these words are spoken you all can hop on this hottest new trend before it gets out.
