FRANK THE TANK

My car is the greatest automobile ever assembled. The pinnacle of Japanese engineering.

On the day he was compared to a covered wagon we forded a river. We flew across the water. Maybe even floated. To respond to the masses that want me to get a new car, I would remind them that:

1. Frank the Tank is perfect. Not figuratively or metaphorically. Literally. He has no flaws. Zero flaws.
2. I am having trouble upgrading him because the fair market value for Frank is $100 billion and it is difficult to find any equivalent vehicle/vessel.

A few weekends ago I was able to go hiking with Shelby and Andrew. She's been so hungry to get into "big nature" on a whim we decided to go to Robin Lakes on a whim. We packed at the very last minute and borrowed a pack from Andrew.

Shelby had recently acquired a $10 pair of hiking boots from Goodwill. We learned a few things on the hike, first the shoes were a little too small and kept jamming the front of her toes on the end, second that the sole of the shoe was not quite secure and ended up starting to fall off halfway through (flapping up and down on the bottom of the shoe), lastly I learned she might be one of the toughest ladies I know for dealing with this.

Robin Lakes is not an easy hike (unless you are my friends Alex and Violeta who casually run it a day AND THEN RUN 20 MORE MILES, not even the same species…). I was a bit of an ass on this hike and did my normal thing of hiking my own hike and ended up separating from the rest of the group. For whatever reason I love digging into the granite when it gets a little steep. Feels character building. Also character building: learning to hike with the group.

When we got to the top of the lake there were so many bugs (literal clouds) it took away from the experience a little bit, but the mountain views/lake and sunset were worth it.

And of course my current favorite part of hiking these days seems to be soaking in a cold river at the end. We found a high mountain river and just dived in. If it's an appropriately hard hike it just feels so wonderful. Cleansing. A few years ago my buddy Kevin introduced me to the cold plunges and I've grown to love them.

I deleted 3/4 of the original draft as a newsletter about weather is not sexy. It's utterly perfect in Seattle.

Cowabunga dude,

DJ

Gaël wanted to spend some time to try to type a bit himself:

"im having a good time at our new apartment and dad hopes that the rest of the apartments are quiet but i dont caaaaaaaaaaaare sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yaeh

buuuuuuuuûuuuuuuuy"

Written listening to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z__mjdWEJjA (current band which I can't get enough of - VERY excited to see them in September)

Thank you all who chipped in for the new bicycle! Proper "Thank you"s will happen when I find out who was involved. Very excited to have my first ride tomorrow morning :)
