Vacation is over. Back to Seattle and finding a new world. The months of gray and rain have left the world flush. Clouds broken, sunny 70 degree days rolling back to back to back. Big goofy smiles and aimless walks. Shorts and sundresses everywhere. BBQs and picnics daily. Things are just how they should be.
The desert was welcome. I stumbled between rocks, through canyons and through passes looking for revelation. No such luck this trip. It was needed and (forgive me for this) necessary. The world around me got very big. Big heat, big canyons, big mountains and big spaces. The world inside of me got very small. People, my people, were my four travel companions. No internet, no phone. Conversations running wild in all directions. Little and big acts of kindness. Just big acts of sharing. I don't think I can do the hike justice this year with words. Kevin, a true travel shamen,
made a video.
Gaël, he's good. Another couple big moon leaps of cognitive development. It's altogether terrifying. Two days ago he spent the whole day asking "Could Hulk lift this car?", "That tree?", "That house?", "And that tree?". "Me?", "You?"... And just before my head could hit the dash, "I cried when you were in the desert because I missed you, did you cry too?". Yeah I did G, yeah I did,
Life is ok, the sun is shining.
