Friends,
Life has started to hit a sweet rhythm and days are flying by. I thought it would be good though to sit down and pound out another one of these. I thought there were a few cool discoveries and stories I could share with you.
I finally had the opportunity to break away from work and try L'as du Falafel. Supposedly it's the best falafel joint in the city. It has a reputation of being a huge tourist trap with 30 minute waits. Turns out there aren't that many tourists on cold Thursdays late January. I walked up to the window and got my falafel in 30 seconds and went for a walk. It was totally "legit". Layers of tahini, chickpeas, hummas, pickled cabbage, cucumber and eggplant perfectly assembled. I ate in front of Notre Dame, checked out the stained glass then took a walk along the seine. I'm going to try to go again this next week. Long lunches in this city work for me.
It hasn't been all good though. I've been fighting this intense cold and some days it just totally knocks me out. The other day I got out of work and I was exhausted. While I was walking down to the metro someone rushed by me and bumped me pretty good. I don't always know what to do in these situations and I was fidgeting with a rubber band, so I just shot it at his head. It sailed a little wide or this e-mail would be way more entertaining. I guess I am a real Parisian now.
We also discovered the
coolest park which happens to be only a few minutes from us. It was sunny today and we did a quick tour of it with Céline's parents. Even though it's great in the winter, the big grassy lawns just scream "picnic". I'm so ready for winter to be over.
About the rest of the fam, Céline is gearing up for the exam she takes in a month. Gaël is in super toddler mode and also shares my anticipation for summer. He just wants to go everywhere and do everything.
Wishing I could write more to all of you,
Totally radical,
David
