In before I forget I started a newsletter

Hi!

I’m testing the waters on all this (and apparently forgot I’d added this to my website at all), but let’s give this a shot.

My name’s Brian. I write things.

I don’t write very large things at present, nor do I write voluminously. But I do my best, and sometimes the stories and poems I craft are accepted out in the wider world.

For example,

  • “A Foundational Model for Talking to Girls” (story, Escape Pod, July 2024) just had a really nice review in Locus;

  • “For the attention of my future self” (poem, Haven Speculative, 4Q2023) was previously nominated for a Rhysling, and just now nominated for Best of the Net;

  • I moderated a panel at Flights of Foundry this year, which may be one of my favorite writing conferences (and not just because I can participate from home)! The panel was “Computer, Enhance: Getting Tech Right in SF,” and the discussion was delightfully nerdy and a little rowdy.

  • And I’m happy to say my year’s not over, as I have at least one more poem coming out in Space & Time soon.

Because this is such a strange gig for me, I never know how often I’ll be posting with news… but I suspect that I’ll announce my presence from time to time, and maybe even toss out some thinky thoughts as they come to me.

Dearest reader, I hope this letter continues to find you well, and I hope the one to follow, whenever it happens, does just the same.

Best regards,

~B.
