The Alcove - August 3 26
I’m so sorry but I’m still really occupied with many things as I get back to WISDOM work and put our place in order.
The Alcove has been on the back burner. This edition is not organized and I have little personal material to offer at this time. I really look forward to diving in with it all very soon.
___________
Prayer for the Morning
Jesus Christ is our Lord and Redeemer:
come, let us adore him!
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia!

Blessed Concepción Cabrera de Armida
Widow († 1937) Feast
: March 3
Although she was given the name María Concepción
at baptism, everyone called her Conchita. She was a
charming, beautiful girl and had a happy childhood in
San Luis Potosí, Mexico. As was the custom at the time,
suitors sought her hand in marriage when she was only
thirteen years old. But she only ever loved one man,
Francisco Armida, who patiently waited for nine years
to marry her.
Together, they had nine children over the next four
teen years. Her husband died when her youngest child
was only two years old. She was left alone to raise her
children, just as anti-Catholic persecution was sweeping
through Mexico, culminating in the Mexican Revolution
and the deaths of almost one million Mexicans, mostly
non-combatants.
Conchita had prayed the rosary daily since childhood,
and she had a deep devotion to the Eucharist. Although
she was always a dedicated mother and hard worker in
caring for her family, her prayer deepened throughout
her life. Rather than retreating from her faith as Catholics
were persecuted in Mexico, she began writing devotional
works, explaining her own spiritual life and sharing her
love of God to inspire others. By the time of her death at
the age of seventy-four, she had founded many religious
associations in Mexico, particularly spreading a love for
the cross of Christ.

About two-thirds of U.S. adults believe the war with Iran is not worthwhile, according to a new AP-NORC poll.
The Associated Press reported Thursday that 33% of U.S. adults think the war is worth fighting, while 64% do not. It added that 87% of Democrats, 68% of independents and 37% of Republicans aren't in favor of the war.
The AP-NORC poll of 1,165 adults was conducted July 23-27 using a sample drawn from NORC’s probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is designed to be representative of the U.S. population. The margin of sampling error for adults overall is plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.
Just 28% of U.S. adults now approve of how Trump is handling Iran, a slight decline from 34% last month, the AP also reported.
The war, which began on Feb. 28, has impacted gas prices.
About 7 in 10 U.S. adults — 72% — say it’s “extremely” or “very” important for the U.S. to prevent domestic oil and gas prices from rising, up slightly from 67% in March, according to the AP.
When Fox News Digital asked the White House for a response to the poll, assistant press secretary Olivia Wales told Fox News Digital that, “What matters most to the American people is having a Commander in Chief who takes bold action to keep them safe, which is exactly what President Trump is doing."
"The President does not make national security decisions based on fluid opinion polls, but on the best interests of the country, and Americans are already safer for the United States’ bold actions to deny the Iranian regime the ability to develop a nuclear weapon," she added.
The Associated Press contributed to this post.
