The need for trust
I had little time for much “national” news today, but did watch a 34-minute video from Hank Green tying together historical strands of media revolutions and populism from TFP back to Father Coughlin and Martin Luther.
A key theme in Green’s video is trust, and the societal need for trust, even as—and especially when—trust in institutions is at a historic low. Much of Green’s career has been focused on the work of explaining things to people in ways that he hopes they will trust.
I hope that I can write here in ways that people will trust.
One @#$%ing thing
Tonight I started a monthly contribution to Trans Lifeline.
More trans folks are supported by family and friends than at any previous time in history, but things have also been hard in many parts of the US in recent years. Many have begun to stockpile medicine for themselves and for others, because we don’t know what’s to come.
