The most difficult day
The biggest trouble with starting a daily practice is always the next morning. And also that there’s another morning after that.
A reason to keep going today
Each of us has needed (and will need) different things to help us put one metaphorical foot in front of the other. Today it was Senator Elizabeth Warren’s words. (Instagram reel)
A reason for hope today
I read this 2019 piece on the power of nonviolent protest, comparing its effectiveness across the 20th century in contrast to violent resistance. Will these patterns still hold, in this era of autocratic ascension?
A reason for joy today
I am finding myself utterly charmed by this young artist’s YouTube reactions of his first encounter with Hamilton. He’s 9 parts in and still going. (I am still in the middle of Part 2)
That one thing today
I increased my monthly donation to my local nonprofit newsroom.
I also flew down to where my son is at school, so that we could be together as a family. So I suppose that’s two things.
Today has been difficult, but it has been enough.
