đź’–Things I Heart 002đź’–
Greetings! I have changed the name of my frequent feature from Good Things to Things I Heart. This way, I can write about things that I have purchased while shopping.
OK! Here are some things I heart this week!
“Leave Me Out” - Gumm
This song is so smart. “Leave Me Out” is scathing and biting. It’s an incredible takedown of fake niceties and supposed community leaders that refuse to change. It’s a seething, unforgettable sendoff for an already massive hardcore album.
Super Mario Bros.™ Wonder
I’m not a gamer, but I game. By that, I mean I like to play video games, but I don’t like when they’re challenging. I prefer farming games and simulation games, because there’s no actual puzzles to them. That being said, I am having an absolute blast playing Super Mario Bros.™ Wonder. The game is just as fun and weird as reviews have mentioned. There’s singing, oversized creatures, and you can play as Daisy. I also like that they warn you how hard the levels are. This way, I can manage my expectations.
Drunk Elephant’s Retinol
There are few products I’ve continued buying since my beauty writer days. Most of what I wrote about was far above my pay grade and without those free samples, I’ve become quite selective in my own purchases. That being said, I will spend $72 on this Drunk Elephant retinol.
Retinol can be notoriously harsh on the skin, coming with warnings of an adjustment period and numerous side effects. This retinol was easy on my sensitive skin since the very first use. I never had any issues with it, and unlike other retinol I’ve tried, I genuinely see results. My skin really does have a clearness to it and if I do breakout, it clears up blemishes really quickly.
About-Face Shadowstick
Speaking of beauty items I still love, About-Face’s Shadowsticks should win an award. These magical pencils give you seriously pigmented payoff with a single swipe of product. I love using them to create a monochromatic eye look or I sometimes swipe on a trio of shades, creating a little mini rainbow on my eye line. I have an entire bag of these and they’re my go-to choice for creating quick and easy looks.
Dunkin
I think it’s really powerful that Dunkin’ refuses to maintain any consistency with its orders. After years of going, and ordering the same drink (a large iced sweet tea), there’s something truly rewarding about never knowing whether my drink will taste the same or not. It’s a little adventure, a little surprise, and just the highlight of my day. For real. I love Dunkin.
The Library / Libby
For a long time, I was super invested in buying all of the new books I wanted to read. I quickly ran out of space on my bookshelf, and now, since Joe Biden is refusing to make good on literally a single promise, I am running out of money (student loans LOL). I used to make a habit of visiting my local Carnegie library branch, and wow, I am back at it! Libraries are great! I just put a book on hold and it shows up. And for those occasions when I don’t want to read a physical book, I can use Libby and read a book on my Kindle. FOR FREE! That’s amazing! It’s wild that books are free.
See you at the end of the month/beginning of November for a recap on my recent reads!
The Whaler : Home Is Where
I think it’s really special when an album you’ve listened to consistently can still surprise you with something new. The Whaler is such a treat.
