Hello Kitty Is Everywhere
Has anyone else noticed that Hello Kitty is everywhere?
I know we live in a capitalist society (lol), but that little cat is making serious bucks off her cuteness. To be fair, maybe you didn’t notice, because you’re not a 34-year-old woman obsessed with a cat that’s reportedly as tall as five apples, but I have!
This year alone, Kitty, along with her gang of cute friends, have appeared on multiple Forever 21 collections, Hot Topic ‘fits and accessories, a Baggu collection, a line of planners from Erin Condren, a bunch of goodies at Five Below that are only $5, so you buy more and end up spending $50, a line of stickers with Pipsticks, Crocs, and a bunch of other things.
As the always stylish and talented Donya Momenian noted in previous reporting for Teen Vogue, Hello Kitty is also celebrity-approved.
I used to only be a fan of Hello Kitty, but then, I found out she has friends. I don’t trust Kuromi, because she looks like she’s up to no good, but I am a fan of My Melody and Cinnamoroll.
I don’t really know when I first decided I’d go all in on purchasing numerous Hello Kitty goods, but, there’s something to be said for ~embracing your inner child~. When I was younger, my family didn’t really have money to shell out for multiple American Girl dolls and plushies of cute characters, but as an adult, who seemingly has no concept of saving, I can buy up all the Hello Kitty gear I want!
This little Hello Kitty story doesn’t really have anything to do with anything, but wow, my newsletter, my rules. And yeah, I added some music at the bottom. Ok, bye! Like and subscribe for more #content from me, and feel free to share what you’re listening to and love via the comments.
“Virgos Need More Love” – Pouty
I genuinely don’t know anything about Virgos, but this Pouty track is a true blessing. Pouty is the solo project of Rachel Gagliardi from Slutever. Gagliardi debuted the Pouty moniker in 2016 with a perfect EP. Since then, she’s kept up a steady release of new singles. “Virgos Need More Love” is Pouty’s latest and it’ll likely be the brightest two minutes of your week.
“Not Even Sadness” – Gaymeat
This is a beautiful, incredibly honest depiction of living with depression. I love its gradual increasing intensity and Karl Kuehn’s willingness to confess so much of what he’s personally going through. It’s a track that was made for embedding on you Tumblr with the accompanying lyrics.
“Fizzy Water” – Rosie Tucker
Love a short and sweet song that really captures the importance of fizzy water.
Little Green House – Anxious
This album came out in 2022, but I listened to it again this morning, and wow, it slaps. Love melodic hardcore (as we have established) and love a surprise, slow acoustic number that closes it all out.
“Voices Carry” – ‘Til Tuesday
Just wanted to remind you about this eternal banger.
