Recycling News

Please be aware our county recycling service is now extended to collapsed cardboard when placed by your recycling cart.  All other recycled materials and trash must still be placed inside the county carts. Free mulch at the I-66 transfer station has resumed.

I would like to share information about a free glass recycling service, GRAPE,  organized by student volunteers focused on helping the environment. As you know, Fairfax County does not accept glass in our curbside recycling so it winds up in landfills. Our GRAPE volunteers from James Madison High School will pick up your glass from your curbside weekly for recycling and take it to the county purple bins- the county will use the glass for public projects. The service is based on the availability of student volunteers and we are lucky to have a nice young man who lives on Corsica Street who collects glass on Sundays. I understand there are also volunteers on the Abbottsford side of our community. If you are interested please contact viennagrape@gmail.com

Wishing you and yours a happy and safe Independence Day holiday!
