Bear next door

Please be aware there has been a bear sighting in our area. It seemed to be moving west from Beulah Rd. yesterday and was spotted at the entrance to Peterson Lane Park early this morning. The Vienna police are aware. It seems the bear is tracking along waterways but a video was taken of the bear climbing a tree and going over a fence to get into a backyard. Hopefully it will keep moving in search of food but, in the meantime, you may want to avoid having food available in your yard for birds or pets that might also attract a bear.
 
I’m glad the bear was too late for the TCA picnic on Saturday! It was a fun time enjoyed by all thanks to the efforts of the Picnic Committee led by Sandy Batterton, Laurie Forbes, Eileen Doughty and others who pitched in. Our youngest members played games, got their faces painted and climbed all over a Vienna Volunteer Fire Department truck.  The food was yummy, the drinks and desserts plentiful and the company was great!
