Studio Log - Genesis Guitar: Why a Custom Creation?
A wild Studio Log appeared!
This entry covers the half-year design process behind Genesis, a custom multiscale extended range guitar I'm having built by Captain James of Dood Craft Guitars. Briefly: no production or semi-custom guitar offered the scale lengths, ergonomics, and aesthetic I was after, so I designed one. The process involved CAD modeling, a cardboard mockup held together with toothpicks, my sister Kristyn designing the inlay concepts, and a fair amount of builder outreach that went nowhere before landing on the right person.
You're seeing this before it goes live anywhere else. If anything about the process, instrument, or make-it-yourself drive resonates with you, I'd love to hear about it. Replying to this email is the best way to reach me from here, but other methods, like my contact form, work as well.
Studio Log: Genesis Guitar: Why a Custom Creation?
When no production or semi-custom guitar offered the multiscale lengths, ergonomics, and aesthetic I wanted, I designed a project to scratch that itch. I bounced between research, CAD modeling, and physical mockups to bring something well-defined to the right builder.
Wishing you all a bright day,
Tanner
