Vol. 77 - Searing Scorching Summer Starts
It's hot as hell, stay in the shade and read about cool websites and the Steam Controller.

As I write this, it’s 09:58 and 84F (28.8C). We’ll see if I last the day. But if not, I can at least share the newsletter before I shed this mortal coil and go either to heaven, which I assume is a place where I get to build LEGO dioramas forever…or hell, where I can finally find Ronald Reagen.
Stuff time. :)
Interesting Stuff
VirtualOS Museum
Explore nearly 600 different operating systems in this cute little museum. The peeps in my Digital Media minor would go crazy for this shit.
Wander Console
Wander is a decentralized self-hosted web console where you can check out independent personal websites. This is the sort of thing that I’ve gotten really into with the advent of AI slop, so check it out.
Games Recap
It’s the season where major game reveals happen — you could probably tell by hearing my howling in the wind at how awful the showcases have been this year, as they are every year. Save yourself the trouble and just go to this site, run by a single person who diligently tracks each game announcement. That way you can watch a trailer without needing to hear Geoff Keighley or Troy Baker yapping in your ear.
Roost
I’ve yet to delve into this too deeply but it seems cute. Basically a pen pal app that sends your letter with a bird. The message is sent to the receiver at the speed it would take to fly from your location to theirs. There’s also some gamification stuff where you can trade your birds? I dunno I’ll try it and see if it’s worth writing thoughts about.

Thoughts on the Steam Controller
Now that I've spent a good chunk of time with it, here are my thoughts on Valve’s latest physical tech since the Steam Deck.

This week I lamented the state of email and…well, mostly that to be honest lol.

Leave me alone, I’m allowed some slop reality TV slop as a treat!!!
Music
A lot of Japanese bossa nova this week. Feels appropriate for the summer — plus this week marks ten years since the first time I got to go to Japan for the first time. It is unreal to think about how different I am as a person now…so I just won’t! :)
Uwanosora - UWANOSORA
Hitobito - Rourourourous
Spring Lovers - Minuano
The Great KIM - Matthew Chalmers & Keith Power
Status Update
After I send this off I’ll be watching the Xbox — sorry, XBOX — and then recording the next episode of the podcast. I’m liable to lose my mind. So that’ll be fun!
