Vol. 58 - News x Letter
Windows apps, writing apps, fun new games and the crushing existential grief of a love lost! :)

Why is it so hard to intro these letters sometimes? Does this count? This is three sentences so I’m gonna say yes.
Okay stuff time:
Interesting Stuff
Le Dimmer
I really like HazeOver on the Mac, and wanted to find a Windows equivalent. This is said equivalent. Doesn’t have that Mac-level polish that apps there always seem to have, but it gets the job done. I’m using it to focus on drafting this newsletter right now, actually!
Picture-in-Picture Tool
I play a lot of games in fullscreen because if I spent money on an ultrawide monitor then by God I’m gonna use every pixel of real estate. However I also have ADHD and like to have a video or movie playing at the same time. The PiP-Tool lets you pop out any window you have running like you would on a browser, which is perfect for stuff like VLC and Stremio.
Leaflet and Bear
I want everyone to write more, so here are two tools to make that easier to jump into: Leaflet and Bear. I’ve definitely talked about the latter before, but the former is a new one I found recently that seems neat.
Monocraft
It’s just the minecraft font. That’s all! If you want a new monospaced font to work with, give it a look.

The Pendulum of Grief
Personal thing I wrote and will not elaborate on further, LOL.
Absolum
Wrote enough thoughts for this to be its own “Thoughts On” type of post. One of the best games I’ve played this year!
Notes and Thinking and Context of Use
A brief thing on the actual value of note-taking and why you should always be wary of productivity weirdos.

Status Update
I’m using Focumon again and I dunno why I ever left tbh. Pomodoro + little guys to collect is the perfect combination for my silly-aah brain.
I continue to plug away at The Quirmiz Knight. It’s pretty funny to write 2000 words in a few days and find all the characters still talking at camp. It feels like I’m doing my pacing poorly, until I think about how little 2000 words is in the grand scheme of a longform story. I’ve also hit the point where I have to actually think about world-building. I’m usually not a fan because world-building can feel like “work” on a story. But reach too far into that particular pool and you’ll find yourself having written 10000 words on a history of a nation that will never actually show up in the story.
Anyways by the time you read this I’ll be knee-deep in some french toast at Snooze Eatery, so the tl;dr of this status update: good!
