Status Update

I just crossed the 50k word count mark for the story I’ve been writing. I now wake up in the morning…excited? About writing it? Which is not the norm for pretty much anything I do in life, let alone creative work, lol. So that’s been a pleasant change of pace! I feel pretty proud of it and am excited to build and flesh it out more. I’m even looking forward to follow-up drafts.

I’ve written two previous first drafts for stories before this one, and they both sucked. I don’t even say that in a negative way, that’s just the virtue of doing things for the first time. They paved the way for the work I’m putting into this story. I don’t plan to run down a publisher or anything — I’ve seen the direction that industry has gone and don’t need that stress on my spirit. But as my put my goal of valuing my art in 2026 into practice, I’ll probably do something more official with it? We’ll see!
